SALT LAKE CITY — A former Miss Utah Outstanding Teen was crowned Miss Utah 2017 at Salt Lake City’s Capitol Theatre Saturday night.Miss Panoramaland, JessiKate Riley, was awarded the coveted title, along with a $10,000 scholarship to the school of her choice and a brand new car.
The 20-year-old grew up in Beaver and is currently a senior at Brigham Young University majoring in violin performance. She’s played the violin for 17 years and plans to become a studio recording artist. During the competition, Riley played “Praeludium and Allegro” by Kreisler, which she arranged herself, Miss Utah Pageant officials said in an online news release.
Riley also won the preliminary talent award and the Glen Harmon Instrumental Music award in addition to $700 in more scholarships.
Riley was crowned Miss Utah’s Outstanding Teen — the little sister program to the Miss America Organization — in 2014. She is the first Miss Utah Outstanding Teen to also win the title of Miss Utah, according to pageant officials.
Over the next year, Riley will travel all over the state speaking to audiences about her self-esteem centered platform “Find ValYOU Within.” She will also serve as a state ambassador for the Children’s Miracle Network.
