JessiKate Riley wins Miss Utah 2017
JessiKate Riley, a violin performance major at BYU, was crowned Miss Utah 2017 at the Miss Utah Pageant Saturday. Riley received at $10,000 scholarship and new car. She will compete in the Miss America pageant in September.
Also at the pageant, Jesse Craig, Miss Greater Salt Lake who is from Orem, Utah, won first runner-up; Alexa Knutzen, Miss Springville/Mapleton, won second runner-up; and Madison Monson, Miss Provo, won third runner-up.
Chris Herrod nominated for Congress
Chris Herrod, former state congressman, took the nomination after five rounds of voting for the 3rd Congressional District in Utah, reported the Salt Lake Tribune. The voting convention was held in the Timpview High School auditorium. John Curtis and Tanner Ainge also hold nominations to replace the vacancy left by Jason Chaffetz.
